The series is based on Isaac Asimov’s Foundation novel series.

It tells the story of Hari Seldon, a scientist who uses a mathematical model called "psychohistory" to predict the fall of the Galactic Empire into a dark age.

To shorten the coming dark age, Seldon creates the "Foundation," a group of exiles on the remote planet Terminus, to preserve humanity's knowledge.

Gaal Dornick, a gifted young mathematician from the ocean world Synnax, travels to the Imperial capital planet of Trantor to work with Seldon.
