Independence Square is a national monument established to commemorate Sri Lanka's independence from the British in 1948.

Located in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo, it now serves as a venue for Independence Day celebrations, national events, and state funerals.

The site was also the temporary assembly hall where the first Parliament was inaugurated on February 10, 1948.
