Dowa Ancient Rock Temple or Dowa Raja Maha Viharaya is an ancient Buddhist cave temple located near the village of Dhowa, about 7 kilometers from Ella town.
Believed to have been constructed by King Valagamba in the 1st century BC, the temple is best known for its 12-meter-tall unfinished Buddha statue intricately carved into a granite rock face.
