Polonnaruwa Gal Viharaya

Gal Vihara, also known as the Rock Temple, is a rock temple complex located in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka.
The temple was constructed during the reign of King Parakramabahu I (1153–1186 AD) as part of the Uttararama, or Northern Monastery.
The site contains four Buddha statues carved from a single granite rock face, including two seated Buddhas in meditation, a standing Buddha, and a reclining Buddha.
The reclining Buddha measures over 46 feet in length and depicts the Parinirvana, the Buddha’s final passing into Nirvana.
The standing Buddha, more than 22 feet tall, features crossed arms and a contemplative expression, and is notable for its highly unusual posture.
